Stephen E. Judge, Sr. Advisor

Stephen E. Judge has significant financial and accounting expertise in manufacturing, transportation, agribusiness, healthcare, hospitality, and automotive sectors, holding senior financial roles including Vice President Special Situations, CFO and CRO.

Stephen has led refinancing efforts, profit improvement initiatives, bank work-outs, wind-downs and liquidations; and has represented debtors in numerous bankruptcy cases in many different Districts.

Stephen has represented buyers and sellers in due diligence reviews and the assessment of financial operations and processes where he identified opportunities for improvement to increase the enterprise value of the business. He has served in a senior Financial Management role at Fortune 250 manufacturer Avery Dennison (NYSE:AVY) and Vice-President/Controller and later CRO of Matlack Systems (NYSE:MLK) during its Chapter 11 liquidation. He has also acted as CFO for many small regional businesses in a variety of industries.

Prior to MACCO, Stephen was a principal of his own regional turnaround firm in Philadelphia. He began his career at PWC’s audit practice. Stephen is a U.S. Army veteran who served as a logistics officer in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He received his Bachelor’s in Accounting from the University of Delaware and has an MBA in Finance from Indiana University.

Notable Assignments

  • Serving as CRO in a chapter 11 reorganization of an energy consulting business, led the development of the plan that provided for 100% payoff, plus interest on all secured and unsecured debt in less than 18 months.

  • As CFO, oversaw and supervised a successful operational overhaul of a wholesale distributor creating a five-year CAGR of more than 20% on shareholder equity.

  • Acting as CFO, improved reporting of profitability-by- customer at a high-performing lead generation firm with dynamic growth exceeding 800% in 4 years.  Worked closely with owner on preparing RFPs and multi-year sales proposals that substantially increased revenue & profitability.

  • Supervised and completed the liquidation of a large retail chicken egg manufacturer, including the wind-down of operations, appropriate elimination of flocks and sale of assets that provided the secured lender with an almost complete pay-off.
